  • Why is it important to use a surveyor for my project?
    Getting things right the first time is the best use of your budget and helps keep your project on schedule. We have saved our clients hundreds of thousands of dollars by providing the right advice at the start of a project. This enables our clients to make informed decisions, then draw accurate plans which pass smoothly through Council’s consenting process, achieving an optimal outcome. Our track record and repeat client list are strong testaments to our abilities.
  • How soon should I contact a surveyor?
    Call us to discuss your project the same day (ideally before) you contact your builder or other contractor. It’s important to have accurate information about your property and any easements etc at beginning of a project. This data guides decisions during the design process that could save extra expense and delay later on. Eg designing a garage without completing an initial site survey cost one home owner $12,000 to move a power pole. A pre-design site survey would have accurately located the power pole, enabling the consented design plan to reflect the pole’s location.

  • What specialist services do you provide?
    We produce topographical maps and plans and subdivision plans tailored to our clients’ needs. We are experts in boundary definition, land subdivision and development, subdivision planning, engineering design for land development, surveys for land title and geographic information systems. Our surveyors are specialist contractors for QEII Covenant land and geodetic control work, including maintenance of survey control marks and trigs. Our surveyors are experienced in building and infrastructure set out, resource management, civil engineering, geodesy and geographic information systems.
  • What equipment do you use?
    We use a suite of multi-constellation geodetic grade GNSS equipment, modern reflectorless total stations, sub-millimetre precise levels and specialist survey support vehicles. Our high accuracy equipment is well maintained and reliable. We use the latest firmware and software processing tools including Trimble Business Centre, 12d Model and 12d Synergy.
  • Are you insured when you work on my property?
    Mainland Surveying carries appropriate levels of Public Indemnity, Public Liability and Motor Vehicle insurance to protect your interests when we work on your project.
  • How do you manage any environmental impacts?
    Our goal is to minimise our impact on the environment through everyday practices which conserve energy, water and other natural resources; reducing waste generation; composting and recycling.
  • How do your work practices meet Health & Safety requirements?
    Mainland Surveying is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, visitors, contractors, and others in the places of work we control. We have a continuous process to improve health and safety performance through leadership, updating processes and adapting staff behaviour. Mainland Surveying holds +Impac PreQual accreditation. This was gained in 2022 after demonstrating a high level of documented evidence of our health and safety processes. We are members of Site Safe - a workplace health and safety organisation. Our staff hold Site Safe Passports and First Aid Certificates. Staff are Traffic Management Level 1 Inspector qualified. Mainland Surveying has approved Traffic Management Plans and a Service Agreement with local road controlling authorities to work on roads. We have staff trained to work at heights; in confined spaces and who are competent driving 4WD.
